Endargangered Muskies at Lake of the Woods and other species.

I ran across this very distubring article about commercial fishing nets on Lake of the Woods. This is one of the best, if not the best, fisheries in North America. Click on the link below which will bring you to some more information about this disgusting abuse of Lake of the Woods.

1997-2002 Harvest data for Lake of the Woods

We have finally received a copy of the harvest data for the Lake of the Woods area, you can view it here. This report covers the years 1997-2002, and gives us a good baseline to monitor the future.

Pictures of nets on Lake of the Woods, Ontario.

On November 5, 2004 pictures were taken in the Hades of a net with dead fish, notice the muskie in the photo. I wonder how long it will take before netting damages the so far excellent but fragile muskie fishery on the lake?

Pictures of nets on Lake of the Woods, Ontario.

On August 2, 2004 a local guide took photos of a net full of rotting fish in the North West Angle portion of Lake of the Woods. He told of this being a sample of many nets in the area full of rotting fish (muskie, pike and walleye).

Pictures of nets on Lake of the Woods, Ontario.

On June 8, 2004 U.S. fishermen came across net on Sabaskong Bay, Lake of the Woods. They took pictures in disgust of nets containing muskie, pike, bass, walleye and other fish to commemorate their trip to the unspoiled Canadian wilderness.
